Trust The Artist Wires Open Fraser Foes
Trust The Artist went gate-to-wire delivering on his pari-mutuel promise in the $12,500 Open Pace featured at Fraser Downs on Friday evening
.
Protecting the rail, Trust The Artist and trainer-driver Scott Knight took the lead with Cigar Hall (Keith Clark) dropping into second and Tre Bien (Brandon Campbell) moving up from the second tier to fill the three spot.
Trust The Artist reached the first quarter in :28-seconds flat followed by the half in :56.2.
Tre Bien launched his attack going first up as they moved into the backstretch again but Trust The Artist was able keep that rival at bay as they raced past the three-quarters mark of 1:24.4.
Heading into the final turn, Knight pulled the plugs and Trust The Artist kicked home for the 1:54.3 victory by a length and a quarter over a sloppy track rated two seconds slow. Tre Bien edged out Cash Account (Carl Sibiga) in a photo for second while Cigar Hall finished right there in fourth.
Trust The Artist paid $4.80 to win as part of the 7-5 favoured entry. The seven-year-old son of Real Artist-Abreachoftrust won six of 11 races in Alberta last season to earn over $36,000. The victory was his first in two B.C. starts this year and 35th lifetime pushing his total earnings to $452,109 for the partnership of Kelly Hoerdt, Blair Corbeil and Mike McAllister, all of Beaumont, Alta.
