Shacked Up Overpowering In Mares Open
Shacked Up, a $1.1-million winner, was an easy 1:52.4 winner in the $26,000 Mares Open on Wednesday, Jan. 18 at Dover Downs completing a training triple for Josh Green
.
With Eric Goodell at the controls, Shacked Up, second last week, won her first 2011 race out-distancing five rivals in the top distaff event of the week. Owned by Baron Racing and VIP Internet Stable, the five-year-old daughter of Western Terror-Saphhire Dawn raised her lifetime purse account to $1,159,677 with her 18th career victory in 44 races. Go On BB (Matt Kakaley) was runner-up while Boots Place (Ron Pierce) beat Omen Hanover (Tim Tetrick) for show money.
Green trainee My Julianas Girl became the third six-race winner of the meet when Corey Callahan guided the Dragon Again-Keystone Dawn four-year-old to a 1:55.4 win in a $17,000 distaff pace. It was My Julianas Girl’s sixth win in only eight lifetime starts. Elodie (Matt Kakaley) and Joanna Allen (George Dennis) were second and third-place finishers. In addition to My Julians Girl, Nova Artist And Cams Art won their sixth straight of the meet on the Monday program.
Green also scored with Ok Amelia, a 1:56 winner in a $15,000 claimer for fillies and mares. The six-year-old daughter of Aces N Sevens-Jennies Girl won by a head, with Eric Goodell driving.
The $18,000 Mares Winners Over Pace was won by Enviro Stables’ Spoiled Beach with Tony Morgan driving the 1:54.4 victory. Linda Toscano conditions the Camluck-Beach Dancer five-year-old. Race favourite Riley Character (Tim Tetrick) streaked from far back to within a head of the winner for second. High Speed Life (Matt Kakaley) cut out much of the early fraction and held on for third.
