My condolences to the Ellerker family . Growing up at the racetrack my life seemed to always cross path with Mr Ellerker .My first full time job at the track was with Dave Wall and i helped Daves Wife with Piper Wall big battles with Derby Dan.

My second job at the track was with Jerry Duford and Jerry raced Dan for Ron so i got to paddock Dan lots of times. I was up to Forest 2 years ago and came across a training farm stopped in to enquire about Ron and it happened to be one of the Lester boys farm and he informed me where Ron lived then. I stopped in for a visit and Ron happened to be sleeping so i did not get a chance to visit .

To me those where the glory days of horse racing in small town Ontario. Here is a run down of a invitation pace on any given weekend. Mr Peter Ray,Piper Wall, Derby Dan, Derby Gent, Miss Pal, Miss Belle Bars, there was a few more good ones as well.

I hope they have good whiskey in Heaven.

My sympathy to Ron's family. I worked for John Lester when Ron raced Derby Dan and John had Atomos. What a rivalry. The town of Forest was split in cheering sections and mental and physical feelings where exchanged. Ron and John can continue "Who was best" where they are now. May God Bless .
