Priceless Edition Takes KD Preferred
Priceless Edition uncorked a wicked final quarter brush to take home the lion's share of the purse in Tuesday's $15,000 Preferred Pace at Kawartha Downs for trainer Mark Steacy.
The four-year-old son of Real Desire was driven to victory by Gord Brown, who is now just one win away from 2,500 in his career.
Brown got away third with his charge while Admirals Express, who was in search of his second consecutive victory in Kawartha's top class, rolled the field to the quarter pole in :28.1.
Priceless Edition slipped off the rail and caught second over cover behind Four Starz Sisco, who prompted Admirals Express to the half in :57.1 and three-quarter pole in 1:25.2.
Brown rolled Priceless Edition into the three-wide path before the final turn, and the gelding uncorked a massive :26.4 final frame en route to posting a half-length win over Admirals Express in a time of 1:52.4. With Anticipation tagged along to finish third.
Bred and owned by Peter Heffering of Port Perry, Ont., Priceless Edition improved his 2008 record to 6-3-3 from just 19 starts. This year's bankroll, which is just a shade under $90,000, has helped the gelding bump his lifetime earnings to $275,067.
