Woodbine Preferred To Triumphant Caviar
Triumphant Caviar finished up the track after making a costly miscue in last week’s Open Trot at Woodbine Racetrack, but he bounced back and showed his true colours by capturing Monday’s $34,000 Preferred Trot
.
Sent off as the 6/5 favourite in the eight-horse affair, Triumphant Caviar brushed to the lead in the backstretch for co-owner/driver Luc Ouellette and then fended off a challenge from Armbro Chronicle in the closing strides en route a half-length tally over that O’Brien Award finalist in 1:54.1. Pembroke Prayer rounded out the top three finishers.
Ouellette shares ownership on the five-year-old son of SJs Caviar with partners Kerry Beaver, Paul Bernard and James Gallagher. The Chris Beaver pupil banked more than $200,000 last season, and the 14-time winner currently sits with more than $719,000 in career earnings.
