Moreau’s Troops Triple Up
Richard Moreau officially wrapped up the 2010 training title on the WEG circuit on Thursday evening, and he did so in style by putting together a three-win performance
on the 11-race card.
Moreau, who began the evening with two-win lead over Ben Baillargeon in the race for the title, was kept off the scoresheet until the sixth race when Highland Dancer rallied and the drew away to a three-length tally for driver Sylvain Filion in a time of 1:53.1.
That trainer/driver tandem returned to victory lane in Race 9 with Siddall, who powered to a career-best clocking of 1:51.3. Smithsonian also used his off-the-pace skills for Moreau and Filion en route to taking home top prize in Race 11. The classy veteran got up in the closing strides to win in 1:53.
Moreau is on the verge of wrapping up the fifth $2 million season of his career, and his 11th consecutive year with earnings in excess of $1 million. The Puslinch, ON conditioner has racked up 3,454 lifetime wins and more than $25 million in purse earnings.
