Coleman Comments On Career Year
Earlier this afternoon at Woodbine Racetrack, trainer Casie Coleman surpassed last year’s seasonal earnings to earn herself a career year
.
Coleman pushed her seasonal earnings to $6,647,073 on Sunday afternoon, and in doing so she eclipsed last year’s personal best of $6,609,810.
“This past year was a roller coaster ride,” Coleman commented. “We had a lot more stakes wins and less starts but there were also some downfalls. I didn’t think I was going to be able to have a career year until about a month ago. I’m honoured to have such a great group of horses and staff in my barn over this past year.”
Coleman’s biggest wins this past year include the $1.5 million Pepsi North America Cup (Sportswriter), the $666,000 Fan Hanover Stakes final and $300,000 O.S.S. Super final (Western Silk), the $688,000 Shes A Great Lady and $501,000 Three Diamonds (Idyllic), just to name a few.
“Sportswriter was probably the biggest disappointment this year after having an incredible two-year-old campaign,” she added. “Also, my top two-year-old training down last year was Betterthancheddar and he hurt himself; plus, everyone knows that Pretty Katherine missed retention at the Breeders Crown. So I’ve had a few downs this year.”
Next month, Coleman will be looking to add more hardware to her collection as she looks to capture her fourth O’Brien Award at the Delta Meadowvale Hotel on January 29, 2011.
