WFR Drivers Support Salvation Army
Several of Western Fair Raceway’s top drivers have helped to make Christmas more memorable for the less fortunate in London, Ont. by getting behind this year’s Salvation Army ‘Toy Drive’ in a big way
.
The reinsmen helped fill a Granton Horse Trailer, which was parked in the grandstand lobby for a three-week period, with toys. Then, when the call came out from the Salvation Army that they had fallen short of this year’s goal, the driver’s reached into their wallets for an additional donation.
In total, they donated an additional $1,600, which will go a long way in helping the Salvation Army in reaching the numbers they need to make sure everyone has something under their tree on Christmas Day.
“It’s just another example of how people in this industry shine the brightest when someone else is in need,” said Western Fair Raceway General Manager Ian Fleming. “We want to thank the guys for digging a little deeper this year to help out. You know someone out there is really going to appreciate it come Christmas Day.”
Western Fair will be busy with plenty of live racing over the Holiday season. The track will host a 14-race program this Thursday at 3:35 p.m. and is then back with a special Boxing Day program which starts at 1:15 p.m. A commemorative t-shirt giveaway will start that day at noon and the Carousel Room will be open, beginning at 11:30 a.m.
The track also wishes to advise patrons they will be hosting live racing on New Year’s Eve with a first post of 7:05 p.m.
