In Illinois, the harness horsemen’s association is reporting agreement on a contract for 2011

The horsemen have said that they have reached a settlement with Maywood and Balmoral Parks to retain the IHHA retention of a 70-30 split on recapture monies; obtained a 5 per cent purse increase and maintained a 52-week schedule.

The horsemen also say they gained “significant” downside protection from large declines in purse generation, and that Balmoral has agreed to drop the number of races a week from 36 to 33 in an effort to increase field size.
