Rideau Preferred To Tyber King

Tyber King turned a two-hole trip into a victory in Sunday’s $14,000 Preferred Pace at Rideau Carleton Raceway, and that was music to the ears of the longshot players

.

With Darrell Coville calling the shots from the racebike, Tyber King parked Allbentouttashape to the quarter pole in a :27-second clip before releasing that foe to the front. Allbentouttashape proceeded to pace past panels of :56.1 and 1:25.1, but he couldn’t take it to the house. First over pressure from Montreal Phil softened up the leader, who was overtaken in deep stretch by three rivals including the eventual winner, Tyber King.

That eight-year-old son of The Panderosa only needed a :30.4 final frame to prevail by three-quarters of a length over race favourite Stonebridge Magnum. Peenie rallied from far back and wound up finishing third.

Gary McDonald trains the gelding for owner Robert Seguin of Gatineau, QC. It was the sixth win of the season for the veteran, who is now a 33-time winner in his career. The lion’s share of the purse bumped his overall bankroll to $365,944.
