NJSEA Pushes To Have Two Of State's Three Off-Track Wagering Locations Close
It has been reported that the New Jersey Sports and Exposition Authority is seeking to shut down two of the three off-track wagering locations in the state
.
According to an article on northjersey.com, the NJSEA has asked the state racing commission to deny license renewals for the Toms River and Vineland off-track wagering sites.
The report states that the Toms River site is run by Freehold Raceway operator Pennwood Racing, which holds the rights to erect a maximum of four new off-track wagering locations in the state.
Pennwood is a joint venture of Penn National Gaming and Greenwood Racing, which runs the Vineland site and has the rights to build another off-track wager location in the state.
In June, 2010, Penn National sued Greenwood. Penn National alleged that Greenwood was not cooperating in development of a potentially lucrative off-track wagering facility in Camden County, NJ because Greenwood wanted to protect the profits from its own off-track betting sites in Pennsylvania.
