Omen Hanover Wins Dover Mares Open
Omen Hanover notched her fourth win of the meet in the $26,000 Filly and Mare Open Handicap Pace while Kellytuck Sophie won the $22,000 Jr. Open on the coldest day of the meet on Tuesday
, Dec. 14.
With only a second in her five starts this meet, Omen Hanover, who has won three races by a nose and missed by three-quarters in the other, was at the top of her game, driven by Tim Tetrick, for a 1:53.2 victory, this time by a head over Alices Restaurant and Corey Callahan zipping along the passing lane. Go On BB, last week’s winner saw a two-race win streak come to an end by finishing third.
The win was Omen Hanover's 13th of the season giving KDM Stables, owner of the Western Hanover–Oohs N Aahs six-year-old, a $254,400 bankroll this year.
In the $22,000 Filly and Mare Jr. Open, Jon Roberts unleashed Kellytuck Sophie from fourth on the final turn and the Cams Magic Trick-Kellytuck Ann eight-year-old flew four-wide turning for home and then overtook leader Melissas Fancy and Tim Tetrick in mid-stretch for a 1:53.4 victory.
Bib Roberts trains and shares ownership of the winner with Graham Grace and M&W stables. It was her ninth win of the year for the $115,750 winner in 2010. Ireneonthemove finished third with Jim Morand handling the lines.
