Golden Receiver Takes Meadows' Main Event
In the face of frigid conditions, Golden Receiver provided his own heat as he fashioned an easy front-end victory in Monday’s $22,500 Winners Over $10,000/Preferred Handicap Pace at The Meadows
With an announced temperature of 18 degrees and winds that made it feel substantially colder, Golden Receiver had little trouble setting all the fractions. He went to the front from post seven as the 4-5 favourite and prevailed for Dave Palone in a sharp 1:52.3. The pocket-sitting Handsome Prince was second, while Martys Charm closed for third.
Mark Harder trains Golden Receiver, a five-year-old Village Jove-Royal Gold gelding who now boasts $375,475 in career earnings, for Stable 45, Richard Taylor, Stephen Springer and Nina Simmonds.
Brett Miller drove five winners and Palone four on the 15-race card.
