Full Circle Hope Captures Autumn Stakes
Full Circle Hope and driver Rick Zeron came flying home from the backfield to capture the $60,000 Autumn Stakes Final for three-year-old pacing fillies on Friday night at Woodbine Racetrack
.
Full Circle Hope settled into fourth position off the gate as her stablemate, Full Circle Patty (Mike Saftic), quickly crossed over to take command of the field, which was reduced to eight with Tymal Dalia and Notch Yer Best scratched sick.
As they headed around the first turn, elimination winner and odds-on favourite Touch Of Kathryn (Mario Baillargeon) rolled up to take over, hitting the first quarter mark in :27.3. She was followed by a parked out Ella V Horse (Randy Waples) as the field straightened up down the backstretch.
The other elim winner, Theta Blue Chip (Paul MacDonell), made the first over sacrifice from fifth at the half in :57.3 and went head-to-head with Ella V Horse past three-quarters in 1:26.
As the fillies entered the stretch, Hustleonhome (Sylvain Filion) did just that closing quickly on the outside from the backfield along with Full Circle Hope, who had been shuffled back to seventh. Full Circle Hope had the quickest late brush as she managed to edge out Hustleonhome in the final strides, stopping the clock in 1:54.1. Hustleonhome finished a quarter length behind in second with Full Circle Patty third.
Full Circle Hope paid $8.90 to win as part of the 3-1 third choice entry. The daughter of Royal Mattjesty-Classy Sis, who finished third in her elimination, now boasts five wins in 21 starts on her 2010 record with $79,475 earned for trainer Daniel Legace and owners Judy Campbell and Alvin Bowman of Stayner, Ont.
