“Battle of the Wives” Wins Funniest Video

The Race Track Industry Program proudly announces that, “Larry Collmus Calls the 7th at Monmouth Park” is the Funniest Horse Racing Video

. The clip, captured at the Oceanport, New Jersey track this summer was chosen by the attendees of the 37th annual Symposium on Racing & Gaming. Monmouth Park wins the $1000 winner’s share of the $1500 prize money.

“The Handicapper,” by Josh Shulman of Chesterfield, Missouri, placed second, receiving the $350 second-place prize. Only 19 votes separated the top two videos. The show video was “Bird Ball” submitted by Jenny Kellner, who takes home $150.

“We congratulate Monmouth Park in its victory over this quality field of the videos,” said RTIP director Doug Reed.

The final day of the Symposium also featured a panel on boutique ADWs. J. Randy Gallo and Bruce Soulsby, two players who started their own ADWs, discussed their reasons for creating new options for horseplayers and the benefits they see in the boutique ADW market.

A discussion of the challenges facing California racing was moderated by Kay Privman and featured comments from Del mar’s Joe Harper and CHRB member David Israel.

A lively panel on the role of stewards and their relationship with the media touched on subjects ranging from uniformity of rules to the Breeders’ Cup Life At Ten incident.

The Symposium wrapped up with a showing of the documentary, John Henry: The Steel Driving Race Horse.
