MacDonell: "Nothing's Impossible With This Horse"
Somebeachsomewhere is being pointed to break harness racing's overall World Record this fall at the Red Mile in Lexington, Kentucky, and driver Paul MacDonell seems optimistic.
"Nothing's impossible with this horse," MacDonell told the Guelph Mercury. "It's unseen territory, so I don't know what (kind of trip) it's going to take to do that, but, again, nothing would surprise me."
The late Holborn Hanover lowered the all-time race mark to 1:46.4 with a scorching victory in the 2006 edition of the US Pacing Championship at the Meadowlands Racetrack. Cambest recorded the fastest standardbred mile ever, 1:46.1, during an August 1993 time trial at the Illinois State Fair in Springfield.
"(Trainer Brent MacGrath) wants the horse to go down as one of the best ever," MacDonell explained. "He doesn't want to have any doubters."
