Mainstream Attention For Young Albertans
The five young standardbred lovers that have spoken out about the situation in the Alberta industry received some mainstream attention in today's edition of the Edmonton Sun.
Danielle Dornbusch, 12, Hillary McKee, 15, Fallon Gillespie, 16, Chantelle Walker, 14, and Kassidy Lalonde, 14 - started a petition nine days ago to drum up public support to get Northlands to reconsider its plan to go with a strictly thoroughbred schedule for the next three years.
"So many people we've talked to, even our friends, they don't realize that harness racing might get kicked out of Alberta," said McKee.
The group has set up a website and wishes for all to sign a petition.
