Mr Martin Perfect In Xtreme Enduro

Mr Martin has made three starts in the Xtreme Enduro Series, and thanks to a front-stepping score in Tuesday’s leg at Georgian Downs he has taken the checkered flag in all three instances

With Paul MacKenzie at the lines, Mr Martin got away fourth before brushing to the top on the way to the half-mile marker. Once in charge of the tempo, the five six-year-old son of Yankee Glide never looked back en route to a winning clocking of 2:42. Bay Point Park (Tony Kerwood) was second and Sterling Oaks (Steve Byron) finished third.

Pete Marostega conditions the gelding for owner Terry Hunter of Troy, ON. It was the square-gaiter’s seventh win of the 2010 campaign and the 13th of his career. The veteran has stashed away more than $29,000 this year and more than $76,000 to date.

The Xtreme Enduro Series for trotters aged four years olds and upward that have started in an $8,000 claiming event or less after August 31, 2010 features field sizes ranging from 14 to 18 horses racing at a distance of one-and-three-eighths-miles to one-and-a-half-miles depending on the track size. Tracks taking part include Flamboro, Georgian Downs and Western Fair.
