More Gold For Lexis Noah

Lexis Noah turned in a flawless performance in Tuesday’s $130,000 O.S.S. Gold Series Final for three-year-old trotting colts and geldings at Kawartha

Downs, as he pulled off a mild upset over the divisional leader, Text Me, and seven other foes.

With Jack Moiseyev at the helm, Lexis Noah brushed to the top as the field moved in front of the grandstand and once he cleared it was game over for the competition. He hit the half in :58 and then sprinted to the three-quarter pole in 1:26.3 before using a :29-second final frame to seal the deal in 1:55.3.

The Norm Dunstan-trained homebred was a decisive winner over race favourite Text Me (Randy Waples), who was third-placed-second, and Arriba Amigo (Trevor Ritchie), who was fourth-placed-third. Windsun Galaxie (Paul MacDonell) was the second horse across the finish line, but he was later placed sixth for failing to continuously lose ground while on a break.

Dunstan, who bred and owns the son of Malabar Maple-Conway Connie, watched the gelding improve his 2010 record to 7-4-2 in 20 starts with the win. The $65,000 lifted his earnings to $208,760.

Many of the colts and geldings will now set their sights on Woodbine Racetrack for the O.S.S. Super Finals. That blockbuster program is slated for Saturday, November 13.
