Lucky Man Cruises In Woodbine Open

Trainer Casie Coleman sent out three winners during Saturday’s 10-race program at Woodbine Racetrack including Lucky Man, who went wire-to-wire in the featured $42,000 Open Pace

Teaming up with driver Mark MacDonald, Canada's leading money trainer Coleman swept the early Daily Double with Firethorn ($4.00) and Lucky Man ($10.30). Rub Thing ($7.60) won the fifth race completing Coleman’s training triple. Coleman recently concluded Mohawk's 2010 meet as the leading trainer for both wins and money on the circuit.

Lucky Man left from Post 4 in the Saturday night feature and fired off fractions of :26, :54.3 and 1:22.3 en route to a four and three-quarter length score in 1:49.4 over a sloppy track. Favourite Anderlecht (Phil Hudon) finished second off a pocket trip and Hyperion Hanover (Sylvain Filion) was third.

Tom Hill of Lancashire, Great Britain owns the five-year-old son of Cams Card Shark-Princess Chablis, who notched his sixth win 19 seasonal starts and pushed his 2010 earnings over the $200,000 mark. The career winner of 16 races now boasts a bankroll of $745,350.

Fresh off a victory in the Ontario Sires Stakes Gold Final at Windsor Raceway on Oct. 5, the Jeff Gillis-trained Twin B Warrior ($7.00), with Steve Condren in the bike, went from last to first to win the $25,000 Three-Year-Old Open by a head over favourite Classic Rock Nroll (Phil Hudon). Broadies Song (Mark MacDonald) finished two lengths behind in third.

The Apaches Fame-What An Attitude gelding has won four times in 16 starts this year earning over $340,000 for owner Mac Nichol of Burlington, Ont. His lifetime earnings stand at $423,481.
