Lady Rainbow Repeats In Kentucky
Three divisions of the International Stallion Stakes for two-year-old trotting fillies highlighted the Thursday afternoon program at The Red Mile, with Canadian-owned Lady Rainbow finding her way to victory lane for the
second week in a row.
Sent off as the 3-5 choice in her $91,000 division, Lady Rainbow brushed to the lead shortly past the mid-way point for her trainer/driver Rick Zeron en route to the driving away victory in a career-best clocking of 1:56.1. Sweet Love (David Miller) was next best, with Sizzling Volo (Brian Sears) rounding out the top three finishers.
The daughter of Muscles Yankee-Sunshinenlollipops improved her rookie record to 4-1-2 in eight trips to the track, and the lion’s share of the purse bumped her bankroll to $212,989. She is owned by the Rick Zeron Stables, The Camel Club Stables and Herb Chambers of Ontario along with the Rojan Stables of Delaware.

Miss Sue V inherited the lead in deep stretch in her $90,000 assignment, and she made the most of the opportunity for driver Brian Sears. The daughter of Credit Winner-Sunday Yankee tracked Cedar Dove (Ron Pierce) through easy fractions of :28.4, :58.2 and 1:27.3 until that foe made a break in mid-stretch. Miss Sue V stormed to the lead and drew clear to the win in a career-best clocking of 1:56.1. Crème De Cocoa (D.R. Ackerman) was second, with race favourite Tight Pants (David Miller) grabbing the show dough.
Paul Kelley trains the youngster for Kelley Racing Stable LLC of Gansevort, NY and William Weaver III of Freehold, NJ. It was her fourth win of the 2010 campaign in nine starts, and the $45,000 payday lifted her lifetime earnings to $114,382.
Massive Drama pulled off a 15-1 shocker in her $91,000 tilt for reinsman Ron Pierce and conditioner Mark Harder. The daughter of Credit Winner-Shannon Hall brushed to the lead going into the final turn and after laying down the third quarter in 1:29.1 she sprinted home in a :28-second clip en route to the 1:57.1 triumph. Pilgrims Truffles (David Miller) was next under the line, with race favourite Wincinnatti (John Campbell) rounding out the top three finishers.
The career-best effort was the second lifetime win in seven trips to the track for Massive Drama, who is owned by Stable 45 of New York, Deena Rachel Frost of Florida and Peter Venturini of New Jersey. Her bankroll climbed to $70,090 with the win.
