Check Le Look Repeats At Sudbury

Check Le Look went wire-to-wire on Wednesday night at Sudbury Downs to earn his second straight victory in the $11,000 Not Listed Preferred Trot

.

Fresh off a half-length victory over Bjs Fancy (scratched sick tonight), Check Le Look turned in another winning effort for trainer-driver David Dowling and owners David Haney of Waterloo and Lawrence Smith of Elmira, Ont.

The son of Glory B River-Flower Of Erin fired off the gate from Post 4 and carved out early fractions of :29.4 and 1:01 before being facing a "shark attack." Celebrity Shark (Mario Rivest) applied heavy pressure to three-quarters in 1:30.4, but Check Le Look turned back that rival and then held off 10-1 longshot Charlie O Charlie (Justin Turcotte), who finished third last time out, to win in 2:02.3 by half a length. Apeachtoremember (Paul MacLean) rounded out the top three.

Check Le Look paid $3.40 to win as the bettor’s choice. He now sports a record reading 7-9-4 in 28 starts this year and has banked $64,136. The win was number 30 for the eight-year-old gelding, who has earned $223,264 lifetime.

Dowling notched four driving wins on the 11-race card. He helped Chris Polifroni to a training triple, guiding Loubaran to victory in the fourth race. Polifroni's other victories came in the 10th and 11th races with Sunday Attack and Sharpest Edge - both driven by Paul MacLean.
