Track Record Mile For SJs Minolta
Forced three wide down the backside when her cover faltered, SJs Minolta turned a lemon into lemonade, powering past the tiring leaders and scoring in 1:54.1
— equaling the track record — in Tuesday’s $22,500 Filly & Mare Preferred Handicap Trot at The Meadows.
SJs Minolta and Mike Wilder were third over when the cover flow stalled. But SJs Minolta was in high gear, and when Wilder tipped her three deep, she kept right on trotting, drawing off to defeat Im Justa Lady by 5-3/4 lengths. BVs Sister rounded out the top three finishers.
The mile matched the track record for four-year-old mares established by Hidden Viggorish in 2007. David Wade trains SJs Minolta, a daughter of SJs Photo-TJs Royal Tigress, and owns with Gerald Brittingham and Kelley Rogers.
Dave Palone and Dick Stillings each drove three winners on the 15-race card.
