Track Record For Lantern Kronos
Lantern Kronos set a new track record in winning a W.N. Reynolds Memorial Stakes division at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs on Friday afternoon.
The Reynolds races are the highlight of Grand Circuit Week at Pocono, which concluded with Friday's action.
Lantern Kronos crushed a group of three-year-old filly trotters for a Reynolds win in 1:54.4, breaking the Pocono mark of 1:55.2 in that age group that had stood since it was set by Windylane Hanover in 2002.
Trained and driven by Jimmy Takter and owned by Falkbolagen Ab of Malmo, Sweden, Lantern Kronos, a daughter of Viking Kronos out of Bell Power, won for the seventh time in eight races in 2008, and the winner's share of the $25,136 purse pushed her earnings for the season over $381,000.
The other divisional Reynolds winners for sophomore trotting fillies on Friday were Hawaiian Photograph, trained by William Zendt and driven by Dave Palone, in 1:55.3, and Girlie Tough, trained and driven by Rick Plano, in 1:55.4.
There were also seven $20,000 Reynolds Stakes held at Pocono on Friday for two-year-old pacing colts and geldings, and the fastest winning time of the group was turned in by Spring Again, driven by Bruce Clarke for trainer Gary Lemaister, in 1:53.
Other two-year-old Reynolds winners: Panmunjom, trained by Erv Miller and driven by Palone, in 1:53.3; River Shark, trained by David Sabatelli and driven by Jason Bartlett, in 1:53.2; Johnny Z, trained by George Teague Jr. and driven by Brian Sears, in 1:54; Lahaye, trained by Roger Hammer and driven by Yannick Gingras, in 1:54.2; Mysticism, trained by Steve Elliott and driven by Ron Pierce, in 1:54; and Pro Prospect, trained by Jodi Schillaci and driven by Sam Schillaci, in 1:54.3.
