California Horse Racing Board: Customers Should Pay For Entertainment Value

The Wall Street Journal has quoted California Horse Racing Board Vice Chairman David Israel as saying that horse racing's customers should be willing to pay extra for the entertainment value the sport provides

.

In regard to the passing of a California bill which has paved the way for tracks to increase takeout on wagers, Israel was quoted as saying, "Racing has real entertainment value — that's something people should be willing to pay for."

Many within racing's media recently aired their displeasure with the proposed hike in California's takeout rate.

Don't know and have never met this Mr Carter, but he saves me making comments Thanks!!

So the california horse racing board thinks people should have there pockets legally picked every time they come thru the door with excessive take outs because of the entertainment value that horse racing offers. Well generation next which is avoiding the race game like the plague obviously does not find it all that entertaining. So poker and sports wagering which both have much fairer take outs then horse racing are not entertaining, say what!!! It is no wonder that horse racing is fading into the sunset with geniuses like this at the helm. Where does the race game find these people.

How's that attitude been working out for racing? Mr.Israel's comment is completely out of touch. It seems like a lot of the higher ups at racetracks don't realize a lower takeout means more money back in the customer's pocket, meaning more happy customers, meaning they keep betting and that ulimately leads to more money being put back into the pools and more money for racing.
