Aldrich Grabs Five At Monticello
Bruce Aldrich, Jr. put on another driving clinic Tuesday at Monticello Raceway reining five winners on the card
. For, Aldrich, the meet’s leading driver, it marked the fifteenth time that he has had four or more winners on a single card this season.
Aldrich began the afternoon winning both ends of the early double. He scored a 2:00 triumph with Phyllis and Mark Liebowitz’s, pacer, Richess King, in the first race and came right back to win the second with Stan Indig and April Aldrich’s trotter, Superstar Hall, in a time 2:01:3.
Aldrich next visit to the winners circle came in race five when he won with Tiffany Lynn Barrett’s pacer, Kevins Apples in 2:00:1. He then won the tenth race with Reggie Dugay’s Hawaiian Hunk in a 2:00:2 clocking and then copped the eleventh race for win number five when he toured the double oval in 1:57:2 with Marleen Horlacher’s Dream Gem.
With his five victories today Aldrich, 42, now has 334 for the meet. He’s chasing Zeke Parker’s all-time Mighty M record of 526 wins in a single season, which may be out of reach, however.
“Hey if I win 400 (races) this year I’d be thrilled,” Aldrich said by telephone from the paddock at the end of the afternoon card. “I think the most races (that) I’ve ever won in one season was 358 (in 2001) and if the bottom doesn’t fall out I should easily be able to beat that this year.”
