Dazzling Mile For Dial Or Nodial
Dial Or Nodial turned heads won he broke his maiden in a time of 1:53.4 in a NJSS division at The Meadowlands on July 3, and he dropped jaws on Thursday evening when he took the $175,000 NJSS Final for freshman pacing colts and geldings in 1:51.4.
The homebred son of Western Ideal, who is owned by Arlene & Jules Siegel of New Hope, PA, brushed to the lead shortly after the quarter pole and was on cruise control the rest of the mile.
The Jim Campbell pupil hit the third station in 1:25 before unleashing a :26.4 final frame, which was good enough to propel him to the 4-1/4 length score over runner-up Vintage Master (Ron Pierce). Allamerican Improv (John Campbell) rounded out the top three.
Dial Or Nodial - NJSS Final
"He's a very fast colt," said Jim Campbell following the win. "He got off to a bit of a slow start training this year, but three months ago he started showing a lot of speed. He's really taken off from there. The track was a little deep last week, and he wasn't gripping the track the way he should so we changed his shoes for tonight's race."
The lion's share of the $175,000 purse boosted Dial Or Nodial's bankroll to $104,000.
