With local residents not in favour of slots at the racetrack, Scarborough Downs today unveiled plans for a new harness racing track, hotel and entertainment complex in Biddeford, Maine, provided voters approve the slot machines at this new facility

New Hampshire-based Ocean Properties Ltd. and Scarborough Downs plans to work together on 85 acres of city-owned land west of the Maine Turnpike. According to officials with the proposed plan, the facility would create 500 full-time jobs and provide $5 million in annual tax revenues to the city.

In November, Biddeford voters will have their say on a racino. Statewide voter approval would be needed before racino construction could begin.
