BJs Fancy Captures Sudbury Preferred

Bjs Fancy overcame an outside starting spot in the $11,000 Not Listed Preferred Trot featured on Wednesday night at Sudbury Downs to win for the third time in

her last four starts.

Trained and driven by Allan Hohner, Bjs Fancy left from Post 7 and sat sixth at the back of the pack for most of the mile before unleashing a :29.4 final frame to get up for the one length victory in 1:58.3, tying her season's mark. Check Le Look (David Dowling) was the runner-up with third place going to the only other mare in the field, Apeachtoremember (Paul MacLean), who cut fractions of :28.1, :56.4 and 1:27.2.

Bjs Fancy returned $3.50 to win as the bettor’s choice. The six-year-old Angus Hall-Perfect Partner mare is also owned by Hohner along with Tamara Boisjoli of Azilda and Valerie Blackmore of Mississauga, Ont. The win was her eighth of the season in 28 starts and the lion’s share of the purse pushed her 2010 earnings to $57,920.
