As the Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship draws closer, organizers with the event will be introducing some of the participants which have qualified. First up is the lone invader from the west, Doreen Schmidt

Schmidt hails from Delta, BC and won her way into the championship through a qualifier at Fraser Downs, courtesy of Great Canadian Gaming.

This longtime racing fan is enjoying her retirement by catching some great harness racing action and fun casino games.

Trot Insider got up close and personal with Schmidt recently and has the inside scoop on this 'western invader.'

Schmidt has some big plans for the $25,000 grand prize should she win -- she’d like to put a new roof on her house!

The fourth annual Trot Canada National Handicapping Championship is a nationwide initiative put together by Standardbred Canada. The 2010 edition will be hosted by Georgian Downs on October 30, 2010.

Racetracks from across the country have been hosting qualifiers for patrons all summer long and have already qualified over a dozen players.
