Dejarmbo, Daley Dominate In N.Y.S.S.
Monticello Raceway hosted five divisions of the $160,000 New York Sire Stakes trots for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings on Thursday, and when the dust settled
Dan Daley had reined a pair of winners and Dejarmbro extended his winning streak to five-in-a-row.
Daley won the first NYSS event with Daleydaydream in 2:01:4 in the first race on the card and then came right back to win the second N.Y.S.S. split with Surface Tension in 2:00:3 while Jeff Gregory and Dejarmbro teamed for another easy triumph, this time with a 2:01 clocking.
Daley and his namesake, Daleydaydream used the overland route to nail the pacesetter, Proud Accolade (Howie O'Kusko) at the wire for a one-length triumph in their split while Surface Tension trotted an even more impressive mile after never seeing the pylons and then rambling home a neck winner in 2:00:3 over Im The Answer and Okusko.
Daleydaydream, a Conway Hall colt, is owned by Ann-Marie Daley, Richard Lombardo and Albert Crawford and Surface Tension, a son of Cash Hall, also belongs to Ann Marie Daley, Richard Lombardo and Albert Crawford.
In their division Dejarmbro, in spite of starting from the eight-hole, managed to get in contention by the halfway point and then began picking up horses as the field headed to the three quarter pole. The Credit Winner colt drew even with the leaders on the final turn then put it in high gear and scurried off to a seven-length triumph over Tober and Stephane Bouchard in a 2:01 clocking.
Jimmy Morrill, Jr. got in on the action when he reined Keenan, a Credit winner colt, to a 2:01 victory over Lucid thoughts and Danny Cappello, Jr. The winning combination took command after the first quarter and then strolled home an easy two-length winner for owners John Lichtenberger and Ray Remmen.
A final $32,981 division saw Sam Schillaci move Pay The Winner first-up at the half and then wear down the leaders to score a two-length triumph. New Identity, a 21-1 shot rallied to be second for Jordan Stratton. The winner, a Credit Winner gelding is co-owned by Schillaci, Howard Berke and Mathew Bencic.
