Pacing yearlings by stallion Mach Three proved to be among the most sought after during the Saturday session of Standardbred Canada's Canadian Yearling Sale

The Saturday sale topper was Hip 134, pacing filly Shes Machs Delight. Mark Steacy paid $140,000 for the stunning daughter of Mach Three from the Western Hanover mare Endless Delight, she the sister to the speedy Priceless Edition. Tara Hills Stud Farm bred Shes Mach Delight and consigned the filly with Preferred Equine, who will be presenting a consignment for the first time at SC's Fall Extravaganza Mixed Sale.

"She's a very strong made filly," Steacy told Trot Insider after the sale. "I saw her at the farm and I saw her turned out, she looks like she could go all the way."

Steacy is very familiar with the family, having trained Priceless Edition and a few others from the family that were injured and never reached their full potential.

"I've had a few from the family so I know what they can do but it's always a crapshoot," said Steacy with a smile.

Also garnering major attention was Neudorf. Sold as Hip 106, Neudorf is the full sister to 2010 Metro Pace winner Mystician, Lucks Mistress and Camystic. John Lamers of Ingersoll, Ont. was the high bidder at $105,000, purchasing the Warrawee Farm-bred filly from the Preferred Equine consignment.

Yearlings by Mach Three fetched two of the top three sale prices for the first session, as hip 135 - Machman sold for $90,000. Quebec's Colin Johnson collared the colt, raised by Kentucky's Lynn Jones and consigned by High Stakes.

The highest averages in the sale were on the pacing side, with fillies ($15,000 avg) just edging colts ($14,857 avg). A total of 137 yearlings sold for $1.967 million, resulting in an overall average of $14,364.

The second session of the sale will commence on Sunday, September 12 at 12 p.m.
