Sudbury Downs has sent out a reminder for all horsepeople that the closing date for nominations to this year’s City of Greater Sudbury Pace is midnight, Wednesday

, September 15.

The prestigious race has undergone a few changes since last year’s inaugural, going from an Invitation to a Late Closing contest with an increased purse.

The condition is for non-winners of $100,000 in 2010 as of midnight Wednesday, September 1. In addition, the purse has been increased to a guaranteed $75,000 and will be contested on Saturday, October 2. The declarations close as per the normal time of closing on Tuesday, September 21.

In the event more declarations are received than can be accommodated in a single race, the event will be raced in eliminations on Saturday, September 25 and each division will be contested for a purse of $20,000 plus declaration fees. The finalists would then come back on October 2.
