Stallion Series Championships Friday

Four champions of the 2010 Stallion Series will be crowned Friday night at Pocono Downs.

Live Friday night harness racing is being reintroduced to the Northeastern Pennsylvania racetrack after a three-month hiatus. There will be live action on Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday evenings through the end of the meet, November 13.

First-race post time is 6:30 p.m. with one exception, the Breeders Crown on Saturday, October 9, which will have a special 5:00 p.m. start.

Friday night’s four finales of the Stallion Series will feature the three-year-olds, both colts and geldings and fillies. The distaff and colt pacers and trotters will be competing for purses of $40,000 each.

Two-year-old champions in the series will be crowned Tuesday, September 7.

One of the favourites Friday night will be Mano Cornuto, a three-year-old Village Jolt filly that is coming off a 1:51.4 victory August 25 at Pocono.

David Miller will be in the sulky and will start from Post 6 in the $40,000 final for the filly pacers. Mano Cornuto, trained by Larry Remmen, has won six of 14 starts in 2010.

On the trot side for the gals, Pretty Boy Lindy will be looking for the fifth win in nine starts this season for trainer Frank Antonacci. Pretty Boy Lindy has a mark of 1:53.3 at the Meadowlands.
