Stakes Galore At Summerside
Two divisions of the Erwin Andrew Memorial Series and four splits of the Bob Dewar Memorial Stake made up what turned out to be a solid 13-race program at Summerside Raceway on Friday evening

Grayland Hill got the stakes party started with a 1:59.1 score in his $6,700 division of the Bob Dewar Memorial Stake. The son of Coastocoast Yankee-Run Bambi Run and trainer/driver Marc Campbell overcame early interference to win by more than three lengths in a time of 1:59.1 over Fitelle. Rugged Coast was a distant third. Paul Gray of Pugwash, NS holds the papers on the seven-time winner.
Mr Salming extended his winning streak to three-in-a-row thanks to his 1:56.4 score in the second split. Trainer/driver Gilles Barrieau used a :27.1 final frame to seal the deal with the son of Coastocoast Yankee-First To Fly, who defeated Dr Alexander B and Electrofire. The pacer has banked in excess of $57,000 to date for Boyd MacDonald Prodce Ltd of Crapaud and Daniel Ross of Belfast, PEI.
Unstoppable Speed picked up his third win in his last four assignments for trainer Mitch Tierney, who watched the pacer step to a lifetime best clocking of 1:57.2 for driver Corey MacPherson. The son of Benvolio Hanover-JK Drop Off threw down panels of :29, :58.1 and 1:27.1 before coasting home in :30.1 to defeat T M Top Gun and Busters Brother. Sterling and Kelsie Buchanan of Bonshaw share ownership on the colt with partners Mitchell and Jaime Lynne Tierney of Cornwall, PEI.
Island Redemption won for the sixth time in his last seven starts when he captured the final $6,700 division of the Bob Dewar Memorial for trainer/driver Barrieau. The son of Sea Gull Hershey-Luscious Character led at every call en route to the 1:56 decision over Benny Rabbit and Box Car Johnnie. Alfred Barrieau of Dieppe and Michael Clinton of Saint John, NB share ownership on the 13-time winner who has banked in excess of $60,000 in his career.
In other Friday action, Tobins Paradise rallied to take her division of the Erwin Andrew Memorial Series by a head over P L Betterway in 1:59.2. Blissfull Riddle closed from well off the pace to finish third. Norris Rogers mapped out the winning trip for the five-year-old daughter of Western Paradise, who resides in the stable of trainer Sifroi Melanson. The career winner of $96,939 races for the Ultimate Stable of Greater Lakeburn, NB.
Grace And Harv earned her sixth consecutive decision thanks to her 1:58.1 triumph in the second division. Trainer/driver Gilles Barrieau and the six-year-old daughter of Dexter Nukes shook loose late after sitting a pocket trip throughout, and she got up to win by a half-length margin over Abby Best in 1:58.1. Slim N Sleek was third. The win was the 20th lifetime tally for the career winner in excess of $117,000. The mare is owned by Wayne MacRae of Fall River, NS and Howmac Farms Ltd of North Wiltshire, PEI.
