Casie Coleman has been winning left, right and centre with pacing fillies in recent weeks, and on Friday evening at Mohawk Racetrack

it was more of the same.

Western Silk made sure of it as she rallied to take home top prize in the $164,383 S.B.O.A. Stakes Final for three-year-old pacing fillies.

Mark MacDonald slid into an early four hole with Western Silk while Tiz To Dream (Doug McNair) sprinted to the quarter pole in :26.1. Western Silk’s stablemate, Bay Girl (Jody Jamieson), pulled the pocket entering the backstretch and took command en route to the mid-way point in :54.4. She got things her own way on the way to the three-quarter pole in 1:23.1, but Western Silk was readying to lower the boom.

She crept up on the rim and then blew by Bay Girl in deep stretch. A :27-second final quarter helped propel Western Silk to a 3-3/4 length decision over Tiz To Dream, who shot through late to snatch the runner-up spot away from Bay Girl.

Sent off as the 2-5 favourite, the daughter of Western Terror-Extemporaneous improved her 2010 record to 6-1-1 in eight starts for the Casie Coleman Stables Inc of Cambridge, ON and Tom Hill of Lancashire, GB. The 13-time winner has stashed away earnings in excess of $950,000.
