Random Destiny Wins S.B.O.A. Final
A strong stretch really helped Random Destiny pick up her biggest payday to date, as the talented trotting lass hauled home the hardware in Friday’s $168,383 S.B.O.A. Stakes Final for three-year-old fillies
.
Random Destiny and trainer/driver Riina Rekila were barely on the radar screen in the early stages of the mile, but her patented late kick was more than her filly foes could handle.
Highland Strikes (Mario Baillargeon) had the field to the quarter pole in :27.1 before giving way in the backstretch to a revved up Angostura (Keith Oliver). Angostura wheeled by the mid-way point in :56 and proceeded to lead them to the three-quarter pole in 1:25.
Highland Strikes re-emerged from the pocket, and the pressure was more than Angostura could handle as she rolled into a break. Highland Strikes was joined late by Wilsonator (Sylvain Filion) and Random Destiny, with the latter using a :28-second final frame to prevail by half a length over Wilsonator. Highland Strikes took home the show dough.
The three-year-old daughter of Ken Warkentin-Front Porch Swing picked up her second win of the season in 10 trips postward for Overseas Farms Ltd of Campbellville, ON. The lion’s share of the purse lifted her earnings to $400,442.
