McDermott High On His Dynamic Duo
Trainer Kevin McDermott will be sending out two entries in the solo $50,000 Canadian Pacing Derby elimination this Saturday at Mohawk Racetrack. The New Jersey based horseman will send out Hypnotic Blue Chip and Blueridge Western
.
Hypnotic Blue Chip has been installed as the 6-5 morning line favourite and McDermott is very confident in his charge.
"He's been good all year, he's had some bad luck in Tioga (Downs) and got pushed over the track in the Dan Patch but honestly he's shown up to every race and he's just a really good horse," said McDermott.
McDermott opted to race Hypnotic Blue Chip in the elimination rather than accept a bye into the $800,000 final.
"I've been in five Breeders Crowns and I had the 10 hole three times and the 9 hole twice so I want a good chance to pick my post if I win Saturday night," he added.
The son of Art Major has drawn post 3 for owner Francis Azur and driver Jody Jamieson. The millionaire recently set a world record two starts ago in 1:47.2 in his division of the U.S. Pacing Championship.
Hypnotic Blue Chip's stablemate Blueridge Western has drawn post 8 in the elimination for driver Tim Tetrick.
The winner of $1,235,824 is also owned by Francis Azur and according to McDermott the son of Allamerican Ingot is also a threat.
"He's been really coming into his own this past month. The other night at The Meadowlands he jumped a program going into the first turn and made a break, but he was very good in the U.S. Pacing Championship and he's the complete package," he added.
