Graphic Designer Position Opening At SC

Standardbred Canada is seeking an enthusiastic Graphic Designer to bring new ideas and creativity to the Industry Marketing Department

.

This Intermediate Graphic Design position, available immediately, is best suited to an energetic individual who thrives on challenge and a fast-paced environment.

Duties Include:

  • Designing Trot 4 Kids, a monthly insert in Trot magazine
  • Designing the annual O’Brien Awards event materials including program, menu, ads, etc.
  • Designing campaigns for national initiatives
  • Designing promotional resources for national initiatives (banner ads, posters, brochures, ads, etc.)
  • Communicate with publishers and printers on ad dimensions, graphic requirements and restrictions, file formats and file delivery
  • Maintaining and updating the Marketing Portal
  • Contributing content to Trot 4 Kids when required
  • Ability to design layouts when required
  • In-house design for Standardbred Canada
  • Web banners

Requirements:

  • Degree or Diploma in Graphic Design, or equivalent
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a professional environment, or extensive freelance experience (including pre-press), preferably with a magazine
  • Proficiency in Adobe CS4, Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop
  • Ability to work with minimum supervision and meet deadlines
  • Very strong ability to multi-task, having numerous designs consecutively on the go
  • Solid understanding of graphic design for print, including basic colour correction, photo retouching skills, typography, trapping, etc.

Additional Assets:

  • Horse racing or equine background, or interest in horse racing
  • Understanding of font management, color correction and a practical understanding of the Elements of Art and Principles of Design
  • Illustration experience
