Sudbury Preferred To Thomson Seelster
Sudbury Downs regular Thomson Seelster turned in a wire-to-wire winning effort in Wednesday night’s featured $11,000 Not Listed Preferred Pace at the
Chelmsford, ON half-mile oval.
Trainer-driver Gerry Belanger sent Thomson Seelster to the lead from Post 4 and the veteran son of Rustler Hanover-Timeless went all the way turning back a challenge from Buckys Luck (Steeven Genois) past the third quarter mark. Thomson Seelster, who carved out fractions of :28.4, :58.3 and 1:27.3, kicked home in :28.4 to prevail by one and a quarter length in 1:56.2. Favourite Rush Rules (Aaron Byron) rallied off cover from the backfield to place with pocket-sitter Pan Larceny (David Dowling) finishing third.
Thomson Seelster paid $11.40 to win as the 9-2 third choice. The 10-year-old gelding, a winner of two races in seven starts this year and $13,620, is owned by Belanger Racing Stables of Barrie, ON. He now boasts 62 wins on his resume and earnings totaling $575,528.
