Overnight Races Added To Jug Week
The Delaware, OH County Fair has added 25 new overnight races to its 2010 schedule to provide more racing
opportunities for Ohio-bred horses.
“Certainly we’ve had a reduction in the number of Ohio Breeders Championship and New Century eligible horses,” said Tom Wright, director of racing. “Our goal is to make the racing more competitive and we must go outside our stakes and late closers to complete our race program.”
Wright added that the new overnight conditions are very consistent with the Ohio pari-mutuel tracks.
The overnight conditions will be posted early this week on littlebrownjug.com (the overnight schedule is also posted on the site). Overnight conditions also will be included on the USTA and Ohio Harness Horsemen’s Association websites.
Starting fees for overnight races will be $50. All horses must be declared in to start by 10:00 a.m. three days prior to the event. Any questions prior to September 15 should be directed to Tom Wright by calling 614-847-1948.
The five afternoons of harness racing will get underway the afternoon of Sunday, September 19.
