Preferreds Highlight Rideau Card
Silverado Dream and Imjustalittleguy took home weekly bragging rights in Rideau Carleton Raceway’s Preferred events thanks to their respective Sunday evening scores on the 15-race program
.
It was a fantastic finish in the $14,000 Preferred Trot, and when the dust settled it was Silverado Dream coming out on top by a head. The five-year-old son of Fortuna Winner tracked live cover and then sprinted home in a :29-second clip to hold off a hard-closing Star Ruffnready by a head. Paddington, who finished third, came up a neck short. In fact, there was only 1-1/2 lengths of separation between the winner and the sixth-place finisher.
Trained and driven by Pierre Bovay, the gelding won for the fifth time this season and for the 19th time in his career. He is quickly closing in on $200,000 in career earnings for owner Nicole Bovay Gurtner of Rigaud, QC.
After getting roughed up and finishing sixth in last week’s $14,000 Preferred Pace, Imjustalittleguy return to Rideau Carleton Raceway and turned the tables on the foes he faced. He was the one dishing out the punishment for trainer/driver Ted McDonald. The eight-year-old son of Armbro Operative blasted to the lead and took no prisoners through fractions of :26.1, :55.2 and 1:25. A :28.1 final frame was enough to win by a length over Viper Select in 1:53.1. Match Bayama rounded out the top three.
After winning 11-of-37 last season for partners Lloyd Stone and Dr. John Tobin, Imjustalittleguy has answered with a 4-for-17 record this year. The 38-time winner now boasts a bankroll that stands at $326,105.
