Less than ideal weather conditions couldn't keep buyers away from the Summer Sizzler Mixed Sale, which took place today at the SC Sales Pavilion

at Flamboro Downs.

The highest priced horse of the day was Smashbox, a four-year-old pacing mare who earlier this year swept the Ontario Girls Series at Woodbine and has banked well over $120,000 on the season. Larry Ainsworth, who co-owned the Mach Three mare prior to the sale with Bill Boden and Martwest Racing Stable, signed the sale slip for $100,000.

A capacity crowd filled the SC Sales Pavilion and doled out just over $1.44 million for 199 horses, resulting in an average of $7,274.
