Harness Racing In Johnstown, PA?
Daryl W. Price, COO of a company called American Harness Tracks, Inc., has sent out releases of an ambitious letter sent to the Pennsylvania Harness Racing Commission which outlines plans for a one-mile harness track and
entertainment complex in Johnstown, Pennsylvania.
Price says the company “is committed to making the premier harness track in Pennsylvania,” with plans to construct a one-mile oval and backstretch with a state-of-the-art equine medical centre, a water park, convention centre, and wedding complex.
State Senator John Wozniak has said the company has Las Vegas contacts that could be helpful, and he thinks they are for real, but says, “I’m not going to get too worked up. There are a lot of moving parts to this. I think we can say we’re hopeful.”
Wozniak has said the company contacted him last April after seeing his name in the paper, stating his frustration at the lack of a casino in Philadelphia and no progress for Centaur in western Pennsylvania.
Price has said brothers John and Bob Biros, identified as 'successful real estate developers in western Pennsylvania,' are CEO and chairman of American Harness Tracks, and they plan to turn Johnstown, best known for the great flood of 1889, into a tourist attraction and vacation destination.
Price has said the company has commitments for training and breeding.
Johnstown’s population is 21,000, its metro area 144,319 -- pretty big plans for a small area.
