Cruzin Angel Flies To Scioto Triumph
The freshman pacing filly Cruzin Angel broke her maiden impressively on Thursday at Scioto Downs by zooming past Pink Magic in deep stretch to win
for driver Sandy Beatty in 1:58.4.
The Yankee Cruiser lass is trained by Ron Steck owned by Rhonda Heady of Arizona and George Green of New Jersey. She was making her fourth lifetime start. Her first trio of starts had come at fairs in Xenia, Mt. Vernon, and Hilliard.
Washed Ashore (Mcardle) and driver Chris Page got the first call out of the gate and led through an opening panel in :29.3. Page then put on the brakes with a :32-second quarter and that’s when Kyle Ater moved with favoured Pink Magic to take control.
Pink Magic (The Panderosa) looked like a sure winner when she turned into the homestretch with a 2-1/2 length advantage on her pursuers, but Cruzin Angel made up several lengths in the final eighth to win going away. Racing Form (Allamerican Ingot) finished third for David Myers.
Kyle Ater scored a driving grand slam with four winners on Thursday night.
