Three-year-old pacing fillies Ifiwereaboy and Woodmere Gorgeous front-stepped their way to a pair of victories in Atlantic Sires Stakes action at Inverness Raceway

on Wednesday evening. Each ‘A’ division was worth $9,780 a piece while Diamond Coast captured the lone $2,500 ‘B’ division.

Ifiwereaboy pulled off a 7-1 upset over the popular Our Lady Byng in the first division. With Jason Hughes in the bike, the daughter of Yankee Leader-Springbrook Star carved out fractions of :31, 1:03.2 and 1:34.2 en route to a 2:03.3 victory by three and three-quarter lengths. Our Lady Byng (Kenny Arsenault) journeyed first over to finish second while pocket-sitter K D Go Onn (Clare MacDonald) finished third despite making a late break.

Ifiwereaboy picked up her first win in four starts for owner and trainer Brendon Mullen of Mount Stewart, PE. She was bred by Sterling Mullen of Tracadie Cross, PE.

Woodmere Gorgeous and trainer-driver Kenny Arsenault matched Ifiwereaboy’s winning time in the next split. The Western Success-Costly Ball filly repelled a challenge from eventual third-place finisher Ultimate Spirit (Darren Crowe) as she showed the way through fractions of :32, 1:04 and 1:34.2. Favourite Honey Do Jigtime (Clare MacDonald) finished one and half lengths behind the winner with Ultimate Spirit three lengths back in third.

Woodmere Gorgeous has won two times, finishing second on two occasions and third in her other starts. Owner Larry Chappell of Charlottetown, PE purchased the filly, who is a full-sister to ATSS graduate Woodmere Fasteball, for $3,500 at the Atlantic Classic Sale in 2009.

Diamond Coast, a daughter of Coastocoast Yankee-Dotted Diamonds, broke her maiden for trainer-driver Darren Crowe and owner Dan Belliveau of Halifax, NS in the ‘B’ division winning by six lengths in 2:05.
