Trump Discusses Meadowlands Casino

After having given his two cents on the possibility of the introduction of legalized, intra-state online wagering in New Jersey, Donald Trump has now come out

with a position on the prospect of expanded gaming at the Meadowlands and what effect such a move would have on Atlantic City.

The incomparable Trump, part owner of three Atlantic City casinos, made the comments during a phone interview, according to an article on philly.com.

'The Donald's comments came after New Jersey Senator Ray Lesniak reportedly sent a letter to Trump which included his proposal to save and reinvigorate the New Jersey Gaming industry, which includes Atlantic City and horse racing locales. Lesniak, who is pushing for the legalization of online sports wagering in New Jersey, apparently stated in his letter to Trump that a casino owner with vision is needed to get a casino at the Meadowlands.

"If gambling doesn't stay in Atlantic City, it won't really have much of a chance," the philly.com article quotes Trump as saying in the phone interview. "If they put something in the Meadowlands, it would really have a huge impact on Atlantic City.

"There has been such a huge investment from Wall Street and international investors that if you took the focus off Atlantic City, there will be no more investment in Atlantic City."

The article goes on to sate that when asked about the possibility of a Trump casino at the Meadowlands, he didn't flinch.

"I wouldn't say that something like that would not be successful, but it will be the end of Atlantic City," Trump said. "New Jersey has to focus on Atlantic City. Maybe someday down the road and the economy starts roaring back again, maybe. But certainly not now."
