Heartland Friendha Lowers Own Killarney Record
Heartland Friendha turned in her best effort yet as she lowered her own track record for three-year-old filly pacers at Killarney by three full seconds in the $6,504 Manitoba Great Western Stake Final
on Saturday evening.
Favourite Drumheller (Greg Manning) led the field of eight past panels of :28.2, :58.4 and 1:29.1 and turned back first over challenger Alcars George (Louis Fillion) while Heartland Friendha swept three-wide. The daughter of Firm Friend-Hah and driver Philip Giesbrecht sprinted off cover, coming home in :30.3, to win by two and a quarter lengths in 1:59.4. Classicandregal (Dallas Magee) followed in second with Drumheller finishing nearly six lengths back in third.
The win was Heartland Friendha’s third in a row and fourth of the season in seven starts for trainer Marc Fillion and owners Allan and Carole Drader of Brookdale, MB. The lion’s share of the purse bumped her seasonal earnings to $10,364.
