Hodgson 'Aces' Connell Park Feature
Ace On The River earned an impressive victory in the Clayton and Shirley Dickison Memorial Pace at Connell Park on Wednesday
. The four-year-old son of Western Success remained strategically well off the pace in the early stages of the race, then made a lightning quick move through the homestretch to tackle the pacesetters.
Phillip Hodgson guided the gelding to the fourth win of his season in 1:59.3. Owned and trained by Heather Hathaway of Keswick, NB, Ace On The River defeated Doctor Decimeter and Bodie Bruiser.
It was the second win on the card for Hodgson, who also clicked with Milliondollarjewel in 2:01.2.
Gilles Barrieau earned a driving triple on the seven-dash program during Old Home Week in Woodstock. Barrieau won with Hurricane Island in 2:00.2, Chilito Hanover in 1:59.2, and Albertjamesalbert in 1:59.4.
Other winners included Vic Victor (Stephen Trites) in 1:59.3, and National Angus (Todd Trites) in 2:01.4.
Racing resumes Friday at 7 p.m. with a 10-dash card, including the $7,000 Willard Kitchen Memorial Pace.
