A Harness Racing Reality Show?
The United States Trotting Association has issued an “all points bulletin” seeking financial support for an elaborate multimedia project combining network television, online episodes, promotional excerpts and sponsorship opportunities for harness racing
.
According to the HTA Executive Newsletter, USTA president Phil Langley, chairman Ivan Axelrod and executive VP Mike Tanner call the project “a dynamic opportunity for a national TV show with the potential for dramatic impact on our sport.”
The interesting plot of the project calls for five aspiring models to seek “Starness,” the name of the show, in a reality format to be taped with interactive online possibilities. Television would be on the Versus network, online episodes delivered by Comcast, exposure on Facebook, video teasers for social networking, and live events for select winning participants.
The five models “will enter the horse and farmland of Kentucky to compete in a number of down and dirty athletic and lifestyle challenges, to ultimately prove which player has the most talent, passion and grit, collectively known as Starness.”
